-WHEN TROUBLES COME-
You feel like your in darkness, then you feel the light inside;
Saying not to worry with Jesus by your side.
You dive into His word, thirsting for what you read;
Every word draws you closer because you know He’s all you need.
Peace enters your heart, suddenly you feel so strong;
Realizing through every battle He’s been there all along.
So now you know when troubles come just what to do,
always look to Jesus because He’s always there for you.
Literally, I don’t know why I wrote this poem but I do remember feeling overwhelmed by the spirit to write this when He placed it on my heart. I was at the age of 15 when God inspired me to write “When Troubles Arise.” To some, this poem is just another feel good poem, but to me, this poem is something I cherish. It’s not just something “I” put together, but these are words that God wrote through me. Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” I can not put into words the joy, yes JOY, that fills me when I’m writing but it’s NOT me writing. It’s mind boggling that when you are being used as God’s handiwork to get His purpose, His will, accomplished, the fulfillment that satisfies your soul.
We are all created to be God’s little tools 🙂 I am currently an assistant manager/ Inventory manager at Ace Hardware and sis, let me tell you, I will forever be amazed at all the tools. Each tool is used to accomplish different skills and purposes and the same relates to us. We are ALL, EVERY SINGLE O N E OF U S, are all gifted, molded & uniquely created differently for a specific purpose. It’s often so easy to let pride grab a hold of us when we are accomplishing a skill that we are gifted with but we, (yes I am including myself, trust me) need to look back on the truth in this verse and realize its not ourselves we need to take pride in.
I put truth into bold letters for a reason. The truth is something that I have currently been struggling with. God is Truth, His promises are Truth, His word is Truth and for some unruly reason, we question if we should read His truth everyday? Why do we question the truth? Oh wait, I think I know, my guess is because it’s always so much easier to believe the lies. S A T A N is A LIAR but he’s the best deceiver there is. God commands us over and over in His Word to be renewed in our minds.
” Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-His good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2
If your anything like me, you tend to overthink things. When Satan whispers his lies, in my “mind” I start to believe there truth. But that’s just it, he thinks he has you trapped by fooling you in your mind but he doesn’t! If you received Christ he no longer has you, NOT EVER AGAIN! So now he’s going to try to steal, kill and destroy you [John 10:10]. He now tries to destroy us in our minds because he no longer has our soul.
Our minds are very powerful. If you “think” of something negative, the energy that you start producing is going to be negative. I have learned when I am faced with anxiety, stress, worry, doubts, fears and all these negative thoughts, I feel drained. People have approached me and ask, “Brittany, where is that smile?” It’s gone because I’m to busy thinking on the negativity. But God has a solution for this. It’s still a daily challenge but it’s a challenge worth pursuing.
” The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:4-5
Those weapons are described to us in Ephesians 6! The Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Righteousness, the Shoes of Peace, the Shield of Faith, the Helmet of Salvation and the Sword of the Spirit. Also, the most important, PRAYER! When we take our thoughts captive and destroy them with these weapons they are DEMOLISHED. All the lies the enemy speaks, He is deceiving us in our minds. But when we fill our minds DAILY with His Truth about us we are filled with a indescribable peace.
For example, “How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered. I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, You are still with me!” Psalm 139:17-18
- The lie: You are all alone. Look at you, you messed up and no one cares about you anymore. That was your last chance. You start to feel alone and the anxiety starts building up within you. You start to believe no one cares about you. Your starting to believe what your mind is telling you. Then you get depressed and all your hope is lost.
- The Truth: God thinks about each one of us 24/7. I should just repeat this verse in the Truth column because He explains it better than I ever could! THEY OUTNUMBER THE GRAINS OF SAND! People, do you hear this?! He also says when we wake up He is with us! Our relationship with Jesus isn’t based on our thoughts or how we feel. It’s giving our lives to Him because of His loving Grace! It’s being FREE in Christ because of His saving Grace! It’s not based on how well we did today or how bad we messed up. He is always thinking about us and simply knowing that “TRUTH” destroys the lie in our minds.
We no longer believe the lie because we defeated it with the Truth. The weight of this life is challenging. It’s not an easy task to carry burdens that were not meant to carry. But that’s just it, if we surrender our lives to Jesus Christ completely we don’t have to.
“Then Jesus said, ‘Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
This is TRUTH. Is there someone that you trust completely in your life? You believe that no matter how you may “feel” about a situation, you can trust that person would lead you to the TRUTH. Okay, let’s back up just one moment… this is a human you are trusting here. Why do you trust them? Of course because you have gotten to know them! That’s the same when it comes to us with Jesus. He wants us to come and get to know Him! He wants us to learn, believe, He is faithful! He wants to be the one we trust in TRUTH, no matter what we may “feel.”
